Learning and teaching

QUT's teaching goal is to ensure that graduates possess knowledge, professional competence, a sense of community responsibility, and a capacity to continue their professional development throughout their lives. QUT's Learning and Teaching Plan aims to support QUT's teaching aims by:

• strengthening our reputation for quality teaching and learning and provide one of the best learning environments in Australia
• strengthening our "real world" excellence in teaching through better partnerships across internal and external boundaries
• integrating appropriate information and communications technology into the diverse learning environment
• developing environments that foster and reward high-quality teaching and scholarship and that build a sense of community.

At QUT, students and staff work together to create quality learning environments. As an important aspect of this communication, QUT makes sure that students are able to share their thoughts, ideas and suggestions on how we can make our learning and teaching even better. In 2008, the Your Feedback website will be introducing a new range of surveys to further improve students' learning experiences.

• The First Year Experience Survey provides useful feedback regarding transitions into QUT, which help improve learning experiences for commencing students.
• The Exit Year Experience Survey is intended for students who are close to completing their courses. This feedback is used to help improve courses, facilities and services.
• The Graduate Pathways Survey investigates the career path of graduates, five years after completing their degrees. It studies their courses and it's relevance to their future employment pathways.
• TellQUT provides students the opportunity to share their thoughts regarding any aspect of the university. The online suggestion box is open throughout the year, for all students, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• The university makes changes in response to student feedback and provides viewable summaries on the Feedback Responses page.
