Technology: eResearch
Information technology is changing the way research is conducted. High-performance computing, data visualisation, and simulation particularly assist scientific research, while high-speed networks, distributed data, and virtual environments are increasingly key to collaborative teams working across national, global, and disciplinary boundaries.
QUT is emerging as a leader in many eResearch areas and contributes knowledge to state and national infrastructure programs. QUT has delivered supercomputing capabilities to its researchers for over a decade and continues to seek new ways to liberate research teams by limiting the burden of technological constraints.
QUT eResearch successes include:
- ePrints: QUT academic publications online
- Microsoft QUT eResearch Centre: a collaborative research centre advancing the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to progress scientific discovery
- Collaboration technologies using Access Grid and EVO
- Computation and visualisation
- Oak Law project: is developing the legal protocols for managing copyright issues in an open access environment
- QUT Digital Repository: represents the collection of QUT research repositories and digitised collections.
